Vel 38 RL Carbon Tubeless Disc Wheelset The 38 RL Carbon Tubeless Disc Wheelset is Vel’s shallowest option; perfect for hilly routes and windy conditions where the rim’s depth means it won’t be pushed around by crosswinds. The Toray 24/30T carbon rim has an internal width of 20.3mm to allow any tyre to open up nicely and provide a cushioned; grippy ride whilst the 27.5mm external width gives a smooth interface between the rim and the tyre for improved airflow. CNC machined aluminium Vel RE Center Lock hubs with 12mm thru-axles and sealed bearings ensure that the wheels track accurately and provide a great platform for predictable braking; with the 102T engagement ring adding snappy acceleration and responsiveness. Handbuilt using Pillar Wing PSR21 spokes in a two-cross pattern; the wheels are stiff with great power transfer; yet retain sufficient compliance for all-day riding. The wheels are supplied with tubeless valves and as the tubeless tape is pre-fitted; making the conversion to totally tubeless tyre running is straightforward. Spare spokes are also supplied.
