They are applied to the puncture using the tool and the material of the plug not only physically blocks the hole but also reacts with the sealant to form a more effective repair. The tips have a plastic barbed hook to hold them in place and there is no need to trim off the excess material; it can?t be felt even when used on high-pressure road tyres.
