Compatible with both tubed and tubeless tyres thanks to its hooked design; the rim has also been made fractionally smaller in order to make mounting difficult tyres easier. It has a very wide; blunt profile with a massive external width of 35mm that marries up well with wide modern tyres to better smooth the airflow over this area. Roval says that as a complete wheelset; the Rapide CLX II is faster than most 65mm deep options yet is 25% more stable than their own CLX50 in crosswinds. In particular; attention was paid to ensuring that the handling remained predictable when subjected to gusts of between 0.5 and 2 seconds; as these are the conditions that cause riders the most problems. Inside the Aeroflange hub is the internals from DT Swiss’ premium 180 hub; with SINC ceramic bearings for low friction and exceptional longevity.
